Free Walnut Logs (and others)

I have a friend who had all the tree's around his house sawn down. He told me to come get what i want, and the rest was going to be firewood.

I took my tractor and chainsaw over there today, and this is what i brought home...

The Am. blk. walnut tree had 25 foot of log to the first limb, and i cut it into (3) 8'-3\" logs... The logs are 21\" in diameter for the biggest, and 18\" for the smallest... I also took some bigger limbs to saw into turning squares, so i will break out the anchorseal in the morning! And i cut out a 16' blue spruce, 8' maple, 14' elm, and a couple white pine logs.

Tomorrow i'm going to load the firewood with the tractor and haul it to one of the guys there helping, and then bring my tractor home...

Now too bad for a feeebie!

BTW, i scaled the (3) walnut logs at 300 bd feet total. (doyle scale)

Robert,
I hope your helper got a couple milkbones for his/her help. Looks like your best helper you had there. :P

There's no walnut like free walnut. 8)

God has shown me wonderful new things. Pray He allows them to be built soon.

That's my sawmill dog, he was checking the logs over.... I almost didn't recognize him without his hat!!!

Isn't it nice that he lets me run his sawmill every once in a while??

And here's 95% of the firewood...

He sure was glad to have it hauled to his home for him...

There's nothing better than a good log-dog ... till they do something like this:

She was upset that I didn't have her picture on the wall!

Nice logs at a nice price. What is the gross wt limit for your trailer? I am looking into trading some sawmill services for a 6' x 12' trailer with a 3500# single axle.
Thanks,
Tim

ha ha ha good one, Greg!

Tim,

That trailor is rated 12,000 pounds, i built it a long time ago... It has two 6K axles under it, and i have LT23585R16E tires on it that are rated 3,050 pounds each... I used 10.5 pounds per. ft., 6\" chanell for the main frame, and is very strong...

Robert, please post some pics of the walnut when you saw it. We don't have much around here.
