noise levels

do any of you guys have an idea of the noise levels a lumbermate 2000 with a 13hp Honda produces , I'm sure it says in the owners manual but I don't have mine on me its at my camp.

I don't know what the total db would be, but the Honda 13 is a fairly quiet motor...

I think the roller guides and the band make more noise than the 13 does...

The reason I ask is because I have a lot that is near town which is approved for chainsaw use [firewood ]but not for a sawmilling and I'm trying to prove to the municipality that some chainsaws or riding lawn mowers are louder than my mill

Other than an electric chainsaw they are all louder than the mill.

A chainsaw is WAY louder than the mill w/ a Honda 13 Hp.

The problem becomes the solution. -Bill Mollison

I think the problem will be more owith folks standing around watching you work, than the noise you will make... 8)

You will find that most all lawn mowers , weedeaters, leaf-blowers make more noise than the mill. I had mine in town for a short while no-one said anything about the noise, but boy did they holler about the layer of saw dust on everything down wind. I moved it out of town and when we bought this place so everything was in one spot, now yhe only thing that gets dusted is my junk and the hay field.

You guys are all wrong! So very wrong. I have the briggs 23hp, while not loud it is too quite to drown out my comments when I hit a nail or a saw dog.
  Even the 23hp does not make much noise. A weedeater is louder.

To those who fight for it, life has a flavor the protected never know.

Radio Shack sells a db meter for ~$50.00. http://www.radioshack.com/sm-7-range-analog-display-sound-level-meter--pi-2103668.html

Buy one, get your video camera and record the results showing the readings around the mill when in operation. Then do the same for your lawn mower, weed eater, etc. Send the tape to your local officials.

God has shown me wonderful new things. Pray He allows them to be built soon.

The right to operate your mill on your own property is just one more example of our freedoms slowly being taken from us one by one. Soon we will live in a \"1984\" type society.
