A couple of years ago I came up with a quick and easy system for selecting height/depth on repeat saw cuts. There is a metal index system on my saw which never worked and for the most part I simple count the crank turns; Onr turn = 1 1/8" two turns = 2 1/4" etc. I'm sure everyone knows that but a full of half turn on the crank really isn't very precise. I have put paint marks on the crank shaft, 90* apart. On the saw frame I put corresponding marks. Therefore when I turn the crank and align the marks each I get pretty precise measurements wary quickly which doesn't change as the saw head goes up and down. I've attached a couple of pictures to show what I have done.
