Not running smooth on tracks
Hey folks. Hoping to get a couple ideas from the collective before the spammers show up. Having a harder time pushing the carriage down the tracks this week. It happens every once in a while. Usually means the tracks need relevelling. Did that three times. Ok. Must have dropped a log on too hard and now it’s sideways a bit. Can’t see it anyway. Felt like the top of the tracks are getting mushroomed a bit. So I files the edges to smooth. Also loosened off the wheels a bit. No fix. Any ideas? It enough that one spot I have to put my back into it to push it through the log. Not good. Do the wheels get worn out? Then again it seems like only one spot on the track is the worst. About to tie on some string and check. Would appreciate any other ideas. Thanks.

Measure and make sure the distance from center to center on the tracks is consistent. To wide or narrow is the only thin I can think of that would bind and make it hard to push.

Well with my glasses on and doing the string test showed the tracks were curved a bit. But upon further evaluation it was because my legs were splaying a bit. My mill is stationary on legs supplied by Norwood. Those legs rest on 3x6 Timbers. But each leg only had one screw holding it to the Timbers. Not enough to keep the legs still. I think I may add some horizontal supports connecting pairs of legs. Or maybe even diagonal supports.

my rails get bent a bit every now and then which makes the saw not roll smooth..... the rails themselves are only welded at a few locations which allows bend left or right..... this usually happens when i get rough rolling a log on..... i slowly with light touch roll the carriage till i hear the wheels drag.... then lightly tap it back with a hammer.... the rails will wear down to a point where the rollers will hit the bolts..... occasionally i check the rails using that track width tool..... fine tuning long tracks
