Computer setworks for HD36

Computer setworks are available to upgrade your HD36.

Check them out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t94CJZnI0P4&t=3s  Here’s how they work- “Mark” your first cut to give the computer its original point of reference.

After each cut, the computer will then automatically raise the sawhead to the correct height to safely return to the starting point.

Press “Set” and the sawhead automatically descends ready for the next cut to your programmed board thickness.

Watch a Norwood 36" put together

To assist with installation of a new Norwood 36".. check out "The ABC,s of assembling a Norwood sawmill" on You tube.  I wish this was on You tube last summer !  I had a bit of a struggle, even with some mechanically inclined friends!  She runs now and I am impressed .

Time Lapse Video LM-29 Construction

Hey guys,

I saw a few people asking for videos about the construction of one of the saw mills. I did a time lapse video of our new LM-29 being build. Thought I would share it. You can view it here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Crcb-XQGZo .

We are brand new at this saw milling stuff so I am sure I will have plenty of questions down the road, so I thought I would log in to the forum and say hey!

Quiz for the day: How would you cut this?

This tree is on public land, so I won't get the chance, but I spent a good bit of time trying to figure out how to use this.I thought some of you would enjoy trying to figure how to get the best use of this tree. Now

Good Days And Bad Ones Anyone?

I've only been at this for a couple weeks now.  I got a pretty good stack of lumber and a good stack of firewood. I'm learning that some logs are just junk and that's ok. I've learned that pine cuts square, hackberry is Swiss cheese and oak is pretty but it takes two people to pick up a board.

Does anyone else have good days where every board cuts square and smooth, all your stacks end up with just the right number of boards, and the last board of each log is exactly the right thickness?

Headed to Ohio

I'm leaving tomorrow for the Paul Bunyan show in Cambridge, Ohio.  Looking forward to seeing the Norwood folks, catching up with the news, and once again watching the hydraulic sawmill in operation.  Anyone else going?  The Shoot-out if firewood processors this year, and I'm looking forward to that, as well!

Norwood mill to be demonstrated at national Walnut Council meeting

I've been asked to demonstrate the Norwood HD36 portable sawmill at the national Walnut Council meeting in Manhattan, KS on Tuesday, June 10th. Should be a great meeting, both for the demo, and information on hardwood (not just walnut) forest management. Hope to see some fellow Norwood sawyers there!
