I know nothing about lube. Does lube make sawing easier? Does lube prevent marring and discoloration? Does lube prevent ripples? Does lube keep the blade cool? Do you just add a teaspoon of dawn dishwashing liquid in your tank? Could too much lube cause your blade to pop off? I ask because 5 years ago i used an old oil bucket and the residue (even though I had cleaned the bucket) caused the blade to pop off. Since then I have stuck to plain water. Dish washing detergent (I use Cascade) helps the blade to self-clean and may make the water slicker. Therefore the blade runs cooler. When the bands gunk up they don't cut as fast. I just put a squirt in the tank, maybe a cap-full. Some sawyers in the southern USA use cotton spindle lube as it is readily available at ag stores and is said to work really well.

When my blade is real gummed up sawing fir or pine full of pitch I rev up the saw and spray some WD40 on the blade and it's immediately cleaned up.I also use it to clean pitch off my hands and off the rails if it get built up there.

And some people recommend Pine-Sol in the water for pitchy woods. I tried it, but it doesn't seem to help much with oak. Anybody use it?

I've used it but it's not really much better if any better than soap I have 2 tanks one I put diesel in for real bad pitch seams and have a very slow drip on the blade .

I just used good old winter windshield washer fluid for winter, and summer washer fluid in summer.

Pete straight water in summer is all you need in winter it's to keep the water from freezing.
