Winter Kill
So...the snow has finally almost melted here in the southern tier of N.Y. Went to put the battery back on the mill & low & behold, the mice decided to become electricians & work on the wiring !! Only spent about 2 hours trying to replace the stripped & chewed wires. Not as simple as connecting black to black & blue to blue as they removed the shielding. Anyone else have any surprises when unretiring their mill from it's long winter nap ? Hopefully, this will stay on topic & not degenerate with spammers posting with topics totally unrelated to this forum !!

I was able to start my mill once a week during the winter, but haven’t tried to cut anything. I’ve been working on building a log trailer and rig to make it easier to bring logs to my mill all fall and winter - finally got someone to help me and loaded the first logs with it today. Works really well.

Lol I started to comment this morning, but decided to email Norwood again instead. I don’t think either one is reading their mail. It amazes me that so many people will spam posts about spammers - we may be dealing with machines not people.

my sawmill has been down for 2 years due to life and stuff. Any ideas on what to do before I try to start it>

Hey there oneoldcoot!!! Hope all is well with you. I would for sure change the oil as I'm sure there has been a bit of condensation with it sitting idle for so long. Pull the sparkplug & either clean or replace it. Check the air filter as mice have a knack of getting in places they don't belong. If possible, replace the gas in case you didn't run it dry & put some carb cleaner in the fuel in case the carb varnished up with the old gas. Lube the zerk fittings as well. Hope I covered the most important bases. I'm no mechanic, but I know just enough to be dangerous. Thank You for not being a troll !!!!

Drain the fuel and put some sea foam in the fresh fuel .

You gave him good advice Dave I could only add from my experience with old gas in small engines.

And that is exactly why this forum was created. So members could offer and add to comments to assist others. Let's hope more of the old regulars return as Norwood seems to be making an effort to eliminate the rectal orfices that have been lurking here.

It's same David because unless I recognize a name I don't open the link this could leave new members out of the loop and the nonsense could also drive them away from the site.
